I’ve noticed a lot of hype around certain EVs just because they’re eligible for the full federal tax credit—and maybe some state credits on top. But is chasing that tax credit realy worth it? So many posts seem to focus only on this factor, while ignoring the overall build quality, long-term reliability, and even the real-world range on these cars.
Are people just letting the tax credit dictate their choices, instead of looking at the cars holistically? Are we actually getting better value, or is this just clever marketing and a temporary price drop that might mask other issues (like battery longevity or repair costs down the line)?
Would be interested to hear from anyone who bought an EV not eligible for the full credit. Was it worth it long-term? Or from folks who prioritized the tax credit first—has the ownership experience lived up to the hype?
